Hi, I’m Matt

That’s me, standing on the Kansas Jayhawks football field in December 2022, where they had just finished their first somewhat ok season a couple weeks earlier after decades of terrible seasons. Don’t get me wrong, I would have rather been standing on the basketball court, but security at The Phog Allen Field House was much tighter. Nevertheless, this is the campus where, many years earlier, I decided I was going to make my career in advertising. And I love it for that.

After graduating from this sacred place, I moved back home to Dallas where I worked for a couple of agencies on the media and account side and also where I quickly learned that I wanted nothing to do with working on the media and account side. Some creatives that I made friends with convinced me that I needed to go to Portfolio Center in Atlanta. I took their advice and immersed myself in it. I’m grateful for what those quick two years at Portfolio Center have yielded.

I spent the following four years back in Dallas at DDB as an Art Director working on brands I’d never imagined working on - American Airlines, Tabasco and Texas Lottery among many others.

When it was time to advance the career, I headed to Chicago, where I was fortunate enough to work with some incredibly talented people on brands like Gatorade, Porsche, Supercuts and Career Builder at Element79 and Cramer Krasselt respectively.

Chicago will always be such a special place to me. I saw at least 47 Wilco shows there. My wife Lori and I had our first child there, and while I had dreams of my son becoming the first Spett hockey all-star, it was time to move back south and closer to family.

Since moving back to Atlanta, I have worked with BBDO and Ogilvy on brands like AT&T, Samsung, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Florida Department of Citrus, and Georgia Power just to name a few.

I love the big agencies, but building my own thing has always been part of the plan - first with Uncharted. However, I don’t think I’ve been happier in my career than I am now with Rebel Fox.

When I look back on the years I’ve spent in this industry, all of the awards I’ve won, all of the creatives I’ve helped lead and nurture, and - most importantly - all of the close friends I’ve made, I realize how crazy and amazing this adventure has been. But there are so many more years ahead of me and I wake up happy everyday for it.

Now, If Kansas football could just win a championship. Or even just have a winning season…
